Using Advanced Search, you can search on any combination of words in the book title, the author's name, and keywords. In the case of searches by title, you can search for an exact phrase occuring anywhere in the title (Exact Phrase) or several words occuring anywhere in the title (All Words).

Book numbers (ISBN)

Every book has a unique ISBN (International Standard Book Number). If you have this information, you can enter it in the ISBN box above and click on StartSearch. However, remember that different versions (eg paperback or hardback) or editions (eg first or second) of the same book should each have a different ISBN, so a search by title and/or author name may be preferable unless you know exactly which version you are looking for.

At the end of 2006, a new system of ISBNs is being introduced because the current numbering system is running out of available numbers. These will have 13 digits rather than the existing ten. Existing numbers will be converted to the new format. Our website allows you to enter either the 10 or the 13 digit ISBN in the search box.



If a book has a number on our database that is not 10 or 13 digits, it means that we do not have the ISBN information for the book and have temporarily assigned it an internal reference number ourselves.
